5 Signs That You Might Need a Mobility Aid in Your Life

5 Signs That You Might Need a Mobility Aid in Your Life

One of the most common signs that you might need a new mobility aid is that you could be struggling with the movement of your body. This might not always be the case, though. There are a number of other signs that might show themselves, and it’s worth knowing how to detect them early. Here we highlight some of the most common signs to look out for that might indicate someone needs a mobility aid.

Pain while walking

If you find it difficult to walk for shorter distances due to chronic pain, it could be time to switch to mobility aids. For some, this pain can be solved by utilising medication, massage, or physical therapy. For others, however, the singular way to reduce the pain would be to use a mobility aid for walking. At Day’s Mobility, we not only have a range of walking aids for you to choose from, but wheelchairs too.

Constantly fatigued

Feeling a sense of fatigue after walking or standing for a long period of time is perfectly normal. However, if it keeps happening continually after a short period of time, it might be a sign that you’re in need of help. This is particularly common for people with MS, ALS, or those recovering from a stroke. This can discourage people from even wanting to leave the house.

Some of the mobility aids that can help with tackling fatigue are foldable scooters, wheelchairs, and standing aids.

Injured

Serious injuries can massively limit your ability to properly move around or even engage in the kind of normal day-to-day activities that you need to. This is especially true if you have broken hips or limbs, or an internal injury. These conditions can also make it especially challenging to stand, walk, do chores, or reach for items. Scooters and wheelchairs can help you here by aiding movement and making it easier to stand.

Frequently falling

Falls can cause some serious injuries for elderly people or those with mobility issues. If they start to happen often it can begin to cause serious issues for everyday life. These falls could be caused by cognitive illness, injury, or general weakness of the body. If you also find it difficult to maintain your balance using only a walker for assistance, it might be time to switch to a mobility aid that’s better suited to your needs.

Balance loss

If you find yourself losing your balance when standing or walking, it might be time to get your hands on a new mobility aid. Balance is extremely important because it helps us to coordinate our activities and movements properly. Without balance, there is a chance of falling and injuring oneself. You might find this is you if you’re reaching out for furniture or walls to maintain your balance. Mobility devices like walking aids can help you to regain important stamina, and if the problem is persisting then a scooter or wheelchair can be used.
